Delete your account

In the app

1. SettingsIn the Android, Windows or browser version, open Settings (the gear in the bottom bar).
2. Sign-in and securityUnder Account, open Sign-in and security; in Delete account at the bottom, press Delete my account.
3. ConfirmRead what will be deleted, tick the box, enter your password and press Delete my account permanently. Your account is deleted at once and you are signed out on every device.

Without the app, in a browser

1. OpenOpen modeep.net/app in any browser on a computer or a phone. Nothing to install.
2. Sign inSign in with your email and password. On a new device, also enter the code sent to your email. Forgot your password? Reset it with Forgot password on the sign-in screen.
3. DeleteFollow Settings → Sign-in and security → Delete account as above.

Can’t sign in? By email

From the email address of your account, write to modeep@modeep.net with the subject “Account deletion request” and your username. To be sure the account is yours we only act on requests from that address, and may send a check question to it. We carry out the request within 30 days at the latest and reply to you.

Deleted at once

• Your accountYour first and last name, username, email, date of birth, gender, profile picture and password hash. All your sessions and device records end.
• Your serversServers you own are deleted with their rooms and messages; you leave the servers and group chats you are in.
• Your messages and postsYour room and group messages, your direct conversations (including how the other person sees them), your feed posts and comments.
• Your filesThe pictures, videos and voice message files you sent are deleted from the server.
• Your friendshipsYour friends list and pending requests. Feedback you sent to the MODeep team is deleted too.

Kept for a while

• BackupsThe database backups on the server are deleted within 15 days. Off-server backup copies rotate, the oldest deleted with each new one: about 15 days while backups run regularly, longer while the computer that makes them stays off. Backups are used only to restore after a failure; messages stay encrypted in them.
• A mute or ban in forceIf a sanction is running on your account, a one-way trace of your email address (for a ban, of your devices too) is kept for that time only; it is applied again to a new account with the same address and deleted when the time is up.
• ReportsThe copy of a message in an open report by you or about you is deleted 30 days after the report is settled. Once your account is deleted your name leaves the report.
• Connection recordsConnection records the law obliges us to keep (traffic data under Turkish Law No. 5651) are kept for 2 years even after the account is deleted (in monthly files, at most 2 years and 1 month) and handed only to competent authorities; then deleted. They carry no content, name or email.
• Action logsThe logs of MODeep staff and server admins may still show your name next to past actions about you.
